Indian Cloud Security Professionals – The Future is Here

It has been quite a long time coming but it has finally arrived.

We kept insisting that the Cloud is going to be BIG in India, it is the future. However, year after year, self doubts crept in…

  • Why has the Cloud adoption not exploded despite predictions?
  • Should I update my knowledge on Cloud technologies? Will they be of any real use or is it just a passing fad?
  • Can I get through by just sitting out this one?
  • Will it really affect my job?

After almost half a decade of Cloud Computing, the trend is finally clear. Let us face the facts:

This clearly indicates that public Clouds are finding acceptance in both government and industry. With local presence of global Cloud Service Providers like AWS and Microsoft, the key issue issue of geo-location of data will get addressed leading to even heavily regulated sectors like BFSI to adopt the Cloud.

Meanwhile, while the focus has been on public clouds, enterprises in India have been setting up both community and private clouds. The government has setup Meghraj for use by government agencies. IDRBT has setup Indian Banking Community Cloud (IBCC). Various state governments, like J&K, Maharashtra, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh have begun using private government clouds.

What does this mean for IT Security Professionals

There will be a huge demand for Cloud Security Professionals. It is important for IT Security Professionals to upgrade their knowledge to include Cloud Security. While the core concepts of IT Security remain the same, Cloud Computing adds various layers of security concerns. Getting certified in Cloud Security would be an ideal way to demonstrate this knowledge.

Currently there are two well known certifications CCSK and CCSP. Read this useful blog on these certifications.
